Passu Cones Tour Details

Passu Cones or the Golden Peaks are located in the Gojal Vally near Passu Glacier, Upper Hunza, Gilgit Baltistan. The peaks are 150 KM away from Gilgit City with 3:30 hours of a normal drive.  The most elevated mark of the territory is Mount Tu Popdan at a height of 6, 106 meters from ocean level.

Due to the unique structures, Passu Cathedral has been given various names by travelers yet the most mainstream is “Passu Cones” and “Passu Cathedral”.

Islamabad to Passu Cones

The distance from Islamabad to Passu Cones is 647 km, it takes 6 hours and 40 min by road. As it is a long drive, the best way to reach Passu cones via car is to make stay at a hotel in Naran or Kaghan valley, then continue the journey the next day.  

Passu Cones Weather

Nowadays the weather at Passu is pretty warm. The temperature starts to drop after the evening. However, the weather gets cold during winters, as the Passu cones and Passu glacier receive snowfall.

From March to November Passu Cones receive the summer season, it gets warm during day time; but the weather gets chilly after the evening. From mid-November to mid-March Passu Cones receives winters, it snows on the cones and in the area as well.

Itinerary

Day 1Departure from Islamabad

We’ll pick you up according to the decided place in Islamabad for a “Welcome to Pakistan” meeting. In case we are already in Gilgit we’ll straight away leave for the Passu.

There are many hotels in Gilgit available for you, however, we can have a stay at the following hotels in Hunza valley for the rest of your tour:

Day 2Stay and Visit Naran & Kaghan

Enjoy the stay and lush green Naran Kaghan Valley. You can roam around and do the shopping at the Naran Bazar. Moreover, if you want to hike and enjoy the best view of the valley, its also possible. 

However, it is open only in summer, so if your tour is in summer (April-Oct) then we’ll use Naran route if we’re traveling via car. Otherwise, we’ll be using the Besham route with KKH (Karakoram Highway) to visit Passu Cones. 

Visit Babusar Top

Babusar Top is a marvelous tourist attraction point, with 4,170m height above sea level. However, it is open only in summer, so if your tour is in summer (April-Oct) then we’ll use the Babusar route if we’re traveling via car. 

Stay at Rakaposhi, Nagar Valley, Gilgit

By this time it would be night, so we’ll be having dinner and stay at one of our hotels at Rakaposhi Nagar Valley, Gilgit. The resort we will be staying in will be having a view of snow-covered Rakaposhi mountain. Also, we can visit the Rakaposhi base camp if we have enough time. 

Day 3Visit Passu

After breakfast, we’ll be leaving for the Passu cones. In case you want to visit more spots like Attabad lake. Hunza, Sost, Khunjerab Pass etc, do let us know. We can also make a stay at a hotel in Passu cones with a really nice view. The Passu is at an elevation of 2,440m (8,005 feet), you can sight galaxies during the nighttime. Moreover, during a full moon, Passu cones give an amazing view. 

While travling on the road we will also be sighting the Passu glacier. It is one of the main source of fresh water which falls into the Hunza river.

Day 4Return to Naran

The next day of our tour, we will be returning back to Naran for an overnight stay. 

Day 5Return to Islamabad

The next day, we will be continuing our journey to Islamabad.
