Keran is known for its picturesque beauty and is a popular tourist destination in Neelum Valley. The town is situated on the banks of the Neelum River, and is surrounded by lush green mountains, which get covered with snow during winter.
Keran is connected to the rest of Pakistan by road. It takes 2 hours (36 Km) to get to Sharda from Keran. The amount of rainfall in the valley is very high which results in the growth of lush green vegetation. The main crops grown in the valley are maize, rice, wheat, and vegetables.
Keran valley is also home to a large number of wildlife which includes leopards, markhors, ibex, red foxes, jackals, wolves, rabbits, and squirrels.
The best time to visit the valley is from June to September when the weather is cool and the scenery is at its best. Keran gets beautiful during winters as mountains get snow-covered, but you have to be careful with driving during the snowfall season.
